One of the most fabulous events to strut into Miami is Wigwood, an annual fest of all things queer taking place each year in early February. The event has become known locally as the queer “Meg Gala”, so dress to impress.

The Parties
- Wigwood Miami welcomes a diverse mix of drag performers, DJs, live musical acts, queer visual artists, and a variety of queer local vendors to contribute their talents. The Wigwood celebration highlights the Magic City’s growing influence on drag culture.
- The event has expanded to take over several Miami venues Gramps for evening parties and a cool off Pool Party Sunday at Arlo.

The Story of Wigwood
- Founded by Antonio Mendez (Miami drag star Queef Latina) and Adam Gersten (proprietor of the Wynwood bar Gramps and all-around dope dude), Wigwood has rapidly emerged as one of the Big Orange’s most highly anticipated annual events.
- Originally, Wigwood was conceived as a way to fill the need for a larger, grander event where everyone could celebrate their queerness in a daylong setting. It has since grown to become a weekend long event attracting international celebrities and the top names in drag.
- At the edge of the continental U.S., Miami is becoming a mecca for the weird and the unusual. Wigwood is playing off this energy. In a city defined by migration and tourism, the theme of alien invasion meets hedonistic tropical vacation is itself tongue-in-cheek. The two-day event is more than a festival, rather a “queer cultural revolution.”
