Where to stay during Pride?

Budapest Pride Community Festival
- Friday – Sunday, 2025 – Event program features a range of activities spread across the city for the entire 4 weeks of the celebration.
- Nearly 100 programs of the Budapest Pride Community Festival are jointly organized by more than 50 civil organizations, informal groups and individuals, and in recent years it has grown into the largest civil festival in the country.
Budapest Pride March 2024
- Saturday – Awaiting dates – The main parade of Budapest Gay Pride is held on the Saturday of the 10 day event.
- The march starts at 14.00 and ends at 20.00. The march typically begins at Dráva utca and ends at Szabadság tér (Liberty Square). The route is typically confirmed a few days before the event.
- The speeches start at 17.30, which will be followed by performances.
- You can find many Hungarian NGO’s in the Civilian Village with guest DJs

Budapest Pride Rainbow Party
- Saturday – Awaiting dates – As Budapest pride procession ends, the alfresco Budapest Pride Rainbow Party awaits revelers at Budapest Park, where a full program of events is scheduled.
- The programme includes fashion shows, massages and face painting beginning at 6pm. The party concludes with a fireworks show starting just before 10pm.
- The Rainbow Party in Budapest park is hosted by Funhouse and will feature some of the biggest DJS, acts and live shows. Funhouse is Hungary’s biggest queer happening.

- Alter Ego – One of Budapest’s most popular gay clubs, known for its lively dance floor and drag performances. Hosts a series of special pride parties in June.
Budapest Gay Bars
- A Drop Coffee & Bar – Start your day with a coffee and end it with a cocktail at this LGBT-friendly spot that transforms from café to bar as the sun sets. Find your drop of joy at Dessewffy utca 26, in the heart of the city near metro stops Arany János utca, Opera, and Oktogon.
- Freedom Club – Formerly known as Rainbow, this LGBTQ-friendly cafe-bar spices up the week with parties and drag shows every Friday and Saturday night. Easily accessible from the Rákóczi tér metro station.
- Gaby’s – Overlooking the Danube, this LGBTQ-friendly resto-bar serves up a tasty mix of omelettes, burgers, and cocktails with a side of river views.
- Habroló – Reopened in December 2021, Habroló is the place to unwind nightly with good vibes and better company. Stake out at the new address Síp utca 5, Budapest 1075, a hop away from the Astoria metro station.
- Why Not Café & Bar – Nestled along the Danube embankment, this gay-friendly café-bar is perfect for a daytime coffee or a nightcap, with occasional drag shows to add some sparkle. One of the longest running venues in Budapest.

- Language – While younger Hungarians and those working in tourism are likely to speak English, learning a few basic Hungarian phrases can enhance your experience.

This “Paris of the East” has long been known as a gay center of Eastern Europe, but things have really taken off since reintegration with the West. There is no single gay neighborhood, but most gay-popular bars and clubs can be found in Pest in the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 9th districts, many within walking distance of one another. Defining lines aren’t drawn as sharply here as in the West – except at men’s saunas or cruise bars – and people mix more.
